The Zasiart guide
How to choose framed art for your home
Start with a picture you enjoy looking at. Then use the wall, the room, and the frame to decide whether it is the right piece to live with. These checks make choosing online a little easier.
Measure the framed size on your wall
Check whether a listing gives the image size or the outside dimensions of the frame. They are different measurements. Make a paper template of the stated framed size, place it on the wall, and look at it from your usual seat and from the doorway. If the dimensions are unclear, ask before ordering.
For a gallery wall, lay paper templates out together first. Leave enough room for the frames themselves, switches, shelves, and furniture. A small piece can work well beside a chair or on a narrow wall where its details are easy to enjoy.
Choose the feeling and subject
Think about what you want to see each day. Waterscapes and coastal prints offer reflections and movement; floral and garden prints bring color and detail. Landscape prints give the eye a distant view, while portraits and figurative scenes invite a closer look at a story.
You do not need every color to match. Repeating a single tone from the picture in a cushion, rug, or nearby object can help it feel connected to the room.
Consider the frame as part of the artwork
Compare the frame’s color, width, and decoration with both the picture and your furniture. An ornate frame adds detail around a quiet scene; a simpler frame gives a busy composition more space. Zoom into the photographs and read the listing for the frame material and condition.
At Zasiart, artwork and frame are paired together. Check the individual listing for any variation in the photographed pairing, whether glass or glazing is included, and the hanging hardware supplied. Confirm the piece’s weight and use mounting hardware appropriate for your wall.
Understand what kind of artwork you are buying
A reproduction print is a printed version of an artwork. A canvas-textured surface describes its appearance or texture; it does not make the piece an original painting. Read the product description for the medium, materials, dimensions, and condition instead of relying on the photograph alone.
Check delivery and returns, especially for gifts
Allow for both order preparation and carrier transit when planning a gift. Read the shipping and delivery details and the current returns policy, including who pays for return shipping. For a gift, check the recipient’s available wall space and tastes before choosing.
Keep the packaging until you have inspected your piece. If something arrives damaged or different from the listing, photograph it and contact Zasiart customer support for help.
